HAPPY COFFEE TRAILER
BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL, NAMI GALA EVENT
MAY 2025

  • This was parked outside the Beverly Hills Hotel during a NAMI charity event I attended. I went outside to burn one and there it was,  the Happy coffee truck lit up like a beacon. Turns out it’s Robert Downey Jr.’s project, all tied into mental health awareness. The bright branding against the polished sidewalk, red rope, and twilight sky, it just struck me. I shot it fast, as usual, instinctual. There’s my stance in the corner, grounded in a moment that felt staged by the universe.

I didn’t crop a thing, like always I just layered what I saw. That’s real coffee steam in the air and real Beverly Hills concrete under my shoes.

  • Jake Williams steps slightly out of the shadows with “HAPPY OUTSIDE THE BEVERLY,” delivering a tongue-in-cheek portrait of luxury, branding, and unexpected presence. Set in the soft-lit parking lot of the Beverly Hills Hotel, the image captures a sleek coffee truck co-branded with mental health messages, framed by velvet ropes and evening palms. Williams’ fragmented composition heightens the surreal charm of the moment, with subtle details like a lone cigarette butt and scattered sidewalk grime reminding us this is still very much real life. Behind the polish lies the artist’s steady gaze, watching, grounded, awake.
