PARTY OF ONE, FORMOSA

THE FORMOSA CAFÉ
SANTA MONICA BLVD
MIDDAY, JUNE 2025

  • This was a solo lunch at Formosa. I had the bar to myself, just me, my sweats, a cold beer, and that red vinyl glow. The place feels like a museum of Old Hollywood with black-and-white headshots lining the walls, the Chinese lanterns overhead. I didn’t plan the collage, I just kept shooting what felt good. I layered it to bring out the length of the bar, the depth of those booths, the richness of the colors. This one’s about soaking in time. Being still. Feeling connected to something classic.

  • HOLLYWOOD NOSTOLGIA (FORMOSA RED)” is one of Jake Williams’ most emotionally textured works to date. Set inside the legendary Formosa Café, the piece is a cinematic love letter to Hollywood’s golden era, filtered through the quiet lens of now. Williams’ attention to interior detail, from laminated menus to personal effects in frame, creates a tactile sense of presence. The result is more than a visual, it’s a feeling. You don’t just see the space, you sit inside it, haunted and comforted all at once.
