PARTY OF ONE, SHIRLEY BRASSERIE

SHIRLEY BRASSERIE
HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT HOTEL
DECEMBER 2024

  • I was solo at the Roosevelt, tucked into Shirley Brasserie under those arched ceilings and quiet buzz of mid-afternoon chatter. Snuck a shot right as the waiter reached in to grab the check. I love that gesture, transactional, intimate, fleeting. This whole piece is built around that motion. The rich textures of the booth, the lighting, the anonymity of his hand… it all speaks to this subtle kind of loneliness you feel even in the midst of Hollywood luxury.

  • PARTY OF ONE” is a layered portrait of solitude and service within the belly of old Hollywood glamour. Williams captures not just a location, but an interaction. The cropped hand of the waiter becomes the emotional core of the piece, a moment mid-action that’s both mundane and loaded. There’s elegance in the collage’s warmth and a quiet ache beneath its polished surface. Think Edward Hopper updated for the influencer era longing hidden in leather booths and quiet gestures.
